Day Trip to Duluth

One thing I appreciate about my husband is his spontaneity. Yesterday he had the day off and at about 10am we decided to drive up to Duluth for a day trip. We arrived around 12:45 and went to the Great Lakes Aquarium, which was not worth the money (in our opinion). It's not that it was a bad exhibit, but it cost as much as the science museum (even more). In addition, it was only about 1/4 good as the science museum or the Minnesota Zoo. Regardless, we had fun looking at the fish and trying out all the exhibits.
Then we wandered over to Canal Street and explored the shops. The point of the day was simply to enjoy the time as a family. We did just that :)
The kids played by Lake Superior and threw the smooth stones into the water. Jack absolutely enjoyed every moment.
The girls watched the big boats with excitement. The sun was shining, the wind was warm, and Lake Superior was spectacular.
What a wonderful way to end our summer.
What is your favorite way to end the summer?
